About this policy
This policy explains how Convert Your Garage ("we", "us") collects, uses and protects personal information when you visit this website, garageconversionsliverpool.co.uk, request a quote, or contact us by phone or email. Garage Conversions Liverpool is a trading website operated by Convert Your Garage, and Convert Your Garage is the data controller for this information. You can contact us at Moss View, 4 Killy Lane, Unsworth, Bury BL9 8GA, by phone on 0161 766 6518 or by email at enquiries@garageconversionsliverpool.co.uk.
The information we collect
When you fill in our quote form we collect your name, phone number, email address and postcode, how you heard about us, and details about your project, such as the type of work, your budget range, your garage, extension or loft requirements and when you would like to start.
When you phone or email us, we keep a record of your contact details and what we discuss so we can respond and follow up. If you go ahead with a project, we also hold your property address, quotes, contracts, invoices, payment records, correspondence, and photographs and drawings of the work.
This website may record basic technical information, such as your browser type and the pages you visit, in server logs needed to run the site securely.
How we use your information
We use your information to respond to your enquiry, arrange a survey, prepare a quote, carry out and manage your project, handle Building Regulations and other approvals where we have agreed to do so, take payments, provide guarantees and aftercare, and keep proper business and tax records.
We will not sell your information, and we will not share it with other businesses for their own marketing.
Our lawful basis
Under UK GDPR we rely on: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and performing that contract, when we handle quotes and projects; legal obligation, for accounting, tax and building control records; and our legitimate interests in running and improving our business, for example keeping records of enquiries and responding to reviews. Where we rely on consent, such as for optional analytics cookies or sending you marketing, you can withdraw it at any time.
Who we share it with
We only share personal information where it is needed to deliver your project or meet our legal obligations. This may include our own tradespeople and subcontractors, our design partner where drawings are needed, building control bodies, warranty and guarantee providers, our accountants, insurers and professional advisers, and IT, email and website hosting providers who process data on our behalf.
If you are happy for us to use photographs of your completed project in our portfolio, website or social media, we will not include your name or address. Please let us know at the start of your project if you would prefer we did not use photographs of your home.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not go ahead are kept for up to two years, unless you ask us to delete them sooner. Customer and project records are kept for as long as needed to support guarantees and warranties and to meet legal and tax requirements, which is typically at least six years after the project ends and may be longer where a longer warranty applies.
Keeping it secure
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including password-protected systems and limiting access to staff and contractors who need it. Data sent over the internet can never be guaranteed fully secure, but we work to protect it once received.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have inaccurate information corrected, to ask us to delete or restrict use of your information, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to data portability where it applies. To make a request, contact us using the details above. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
